SBUF-82 is a live insertion SBus slave extender board which allows boardsto be plugged in and out without turning off and rebooting the system.This extender board extends the SBus slot outside the SPARCstation,allowing test and debugging of SBus slave boards while keeping theSPARCstation closed. This feature protects the SPARCstation from anypotential damage from outside objects, and keeps the system cooling at asafe level.Unknown slave boards can be plugged into the SPARCstation safely. TheSBus extender board buffers and isolates all signals from theSPARCstation SBus, preventing any possible shorts on the slave board fromshorting the system bus and causing any system crash. In addition, inthe event that there is a power-related problem on the slave board, the2-Ampere current limiter on the extender board will shut the extenderoff, protecting the SPARCstation from damage.To operate the SBUF-82 board, there is no requirement for any additionalsoftware. The SBUF-82 board will work with all SBus slave boards.
